Why late-night conversations at 3AM are so important

Yesterday I read a post on Hello Giggles (one of my faves) written by Samy Nickalls, who explained the importance of late night talking. Well, I've read this post at least 5 times and I'm still amazed.

Late-night conversations, who has not experienced one, uhm?
I think we all have been involved in one at some point but I personally never gave them the importance and noticed the influence they have had in my life, specially on the emotional side.
I totally agree that we speak different languages, with different signs depending on the time and hour of the day, and it seems to be that at late night hours we become more "us".

I've known my two best friends for about 4 years now, and we have been best friends for nearly 2. And I just realized that they both became my best friends after a late-night 3AM conversation.

We were just choir mates until one night I had a "boy" flirting 16 year-old related problem.
L and I, started our girly chat on facebook at 12am and ended up talking about anything not related with boys until 3am. At that point I just said "I trust you" unconciously, and from that moment on our friendship started to glow.
Today we both remember that moment, and trust on each other unconditionally.

My boy-best-friend let me discover his unique personality, and how a special and beautiful person he is by listening to my problems one summer night at 3AM. He has been the most supportive and comprehensive friend in the entire world and the only person capable of bringing me back to earth since then.
I think our friendship has been built around those 3AM conversations discovering each other's flaws and imperfections without any judgement.
J, if you read this at some point, thank you for everything. I love you no matter what.

At daytime we all hide ourselves behind the "political correctness" wall, keeping our deepest thoughts and passions that give the opportunity to truly know someone deeply.
But when society close their blinds and the world quiets for sleep we are able to break that wall down and exposure our deepest feelings and what we truly are. We are able to open our senses to take a step back from the meaningless day-to-day responsibilities and notice the beauty of what we have and what has been in front of us all this time. At 3AM, we’re able to live.
"When the world is asleep, our souls are awake."
